Jessica Ferrar – Richmond 2024

My day started off with a latte on 4th st. in Berkeley with a friend and then we hit a sidewalk sale. On a total whim I bought my first ever pair of leather pants! I was a sucker for the 60% off! And they aren’t even black, but brown! We’ll see if I ever wear them! At around noon I headed over to the elementary school in Oakland where my husband is the principal. The annual “Thornchill” was on. It’s an event my husband started with the Bipoc committee. The intention is to come together and just “chill” as a community. It’s not a fundraiser, assembly or open-house. It’s out on the playground/yard where kids have recess. There was a wonderful Steely Dan cover band playing tunes (Dans of Steel) while families, teachers and staff  mingled, connected, ate, danced, and had a hula-hoop dance off. At 2pm I headed back to Berkeley and took my first in person yoga class since before the pandemic began! It was actually a much needed restorative class. It was an eventful Sat. compared to my usual. A good day.
