Went to see my therapist today 🙂 We talked about me turning my will and life over to a Higher Power. I don’t know what kind of Higher Power I believe there is but I believe there is one, this world couldn’t have been created on accident, there’s a reason for why life exists. She mentioned that, in Buddhism, there are Gods and Goddesses-also ones that come back to earth to help people. Quan Yin is the Goddess of Mercy and she was a princess. Her father wanted her to get married and continue the royal family’s line but Quan Yin wanted to reach enlightenment. She lived a life of suffering because of her choice but she did end up reaching enlightenment. When she reached the final gates of nirvana she heard the cries of those still suffering on earth and renounced her eternal bliss and came back to earth to help the suffering.
I really like the idea that I can pray to her and she will help me through my suffering. I can visit her temple and light incense and ask for her mercy. I have always been curious about Buddhism. My grandparents are Buddhists and I would love to reconnect with my cultural roots and to have something that I can share with them. Maybe one day we will visit a temple together! I love my grandparents with all my heart!!
